Legacy firmware for the CMG-DCM
IMPORTANT: Development of native DCM firmware has ceased.
Güralp Systems recommend that all DCMs being redeployed to new
installations have the next generation Platinum firmware
installed.
See this page
for details.
The rest of this page applies to CMG-DCMs in existing installations where
an update is required for compatibility with other CMG-DCMs or where
advised by Güralp Support.
To upgrade a DCM's firmware, determine which of the following applies to you:
- Upgrade from before February 2007 — the DCM has not been upgraded since before February 2007. There is a fix which must be applied first.
- Internet upgrade — the DCM is connected to the Internet, and simply needs to be upgraded.
- Disk upgrade — the DCM is not connected to the Internet, and you want to upgrade from removable disk.
- Local mirror — the DCM is not connected to the Internet, and you want to upgrade from a local mirror.
- Reflash — the DCM firmware has been damaged or corrupted somehow, and you need to repair it.
Updating DCMs over the Internet
IMPORTANT: If you have not upgraded your DCM since February 2007, please follow the instructions in the section Upgrading from before February 2007.
DCMs (and AMs) can be upgraded simply and automatically if they have an Internet connection (e.g. via the network connection or possibly an external modem). These instructions assume that the connection is already established.
Recent DCMs and AMs have a page on the web configuration interface that allows you to upgrade them. Choose the Configuration → Software link, and press the Online Upgrade button. If you do not have this page, or wish to use a terminal, follow the instructions below:
-
Log in to the DCM as root. You can do this either through the serial port (by default, Data Out is configured to be a terminal at 115200 baud) or through ssh, if you have a network set up.
-
Type the command:
upgrade
-
Reboot the DCM.
