Complete data centres for analogue seismometers

The new CMG-DM24S3DCM and DM24S6DCM units combine digitizing, data logging and advanced network data access features in a single robust unit.

The three-channel CMG-DM24S3DCM is ideal for single-instrument stations and medium-term deployments, whilst the six-channel CMG-DM24S6DCM provides additional flexibility for small permanent stations

Both models combine high-performance DM24 digitizer technology with a full-featured Linux-based DCM data module. Each includes an additional full-rate data channel for calibration and user input, as well as a range of slower-rate environmental channels.

In autonomous installations, the unit's high-capacity, hot-swappable hard disk can store several months of experimental data, whilst more permanent stations benefit from the DCM's industry-leading networking and data transfer features.

With these new modules, a complete seismological research station requires only three units (excluding power and GPS hardware), as shown:

• a CMG-3ESP Compact or CMG-3T weak motion seismometer for smaller events and teleseisms;
• a compact CMG-5T Compact strong motion accelerometer for local events and aftershocks; and
• a CMG-DM24S6DCM unit, which can create data streams from both instruments and transmit using Scream!, SeedLink, or other network protocols, or save locally in a range of formats including full SEED.

Additional digital inputs are provided on both models, to allow for further expansion.
