New Scream! features for data archives

The upcoming new release of Scream!, version 4.4, will include features for tighter integration with your computer's operating system, allowing you to view and analyse entire data sets with a single click.

Both Linux and Microsoft Windows users will benefit from the new features, which enable users to work with off-line data more efficiently.

A new command line option launches Scream! as a stand-alone data viewer, capable of displaying data sets of arbitrary size in a standard WaveView window.

All the features of Scream! WaveView windows are available in this mode:

Under Windows, Scream! can now act as a handler for GCF files and directories. When you double-click on a GCF file, or choose an option from the context menu of a directory, data is passed direct to Scream!'s data viewer.

When a directory is selected, Scream! scans all GCF files in the directory for data, and arranges them for viewing. An unlimited amount of data can be processed in this way, converted, or analysed in Scream! extensions.

Scream! 4.4 is slated for release in early 2007.
