Güralp Compressed Format (GCF) Specifications
Güralp Systems sensors and data modules use Güralp
Compressed Format (GCF) to share seismic data. The format can be used
for data storage or transmission over a serial link (using BRP —
block recovery protocol), or a TCP/UDP network (using the Scream
protocol).
Below are links to specification documents.

reference — a simple page giving an overview of GCF data and
BRP/Scream transmission.
- GCF reference — the full
specification of the GCF packet format. Strong motion (SM) and unified
status (01) packets are defined in:
- Block Recovery Protocol — the
full specification of the BRP protocol for serial data transmission.
- Scream Protocol — the full
specification of the Scream protocol for IP network data transmission.
