Chapter 5. Appendix A Connector pin-outs

5.1 A.1 Output port and breakout box RECORDER connector

This is a standard 26-pin “mil-spec” plug, conforming to MIL-DTL-26482 (formerly MIL-C-26482). A typical part-number is 02E-16-26P although the initial “02E” varies with manufacturer.

Suitable mating connectors have part-numbers like ***-16-26S and are available from Amphenol, ITT Cannon and other manufacturers.

* Pins X and Y are only used when the remote centring option is fitted.

These connectors are plug-compatible with the CMG-3ESP, so you can use CMG-3ESP hand-held control units and breakout boxes to monitor the low-gain velocity output and run calibrations. Pins A, B and G. used as outputs on both the horizontal and vertical forms of the instrument, correspond to the vertical components of the 3ESP. Accordingly, you should select the Vertical channel on a hand-held control unit to monitor the sensor's output.

If you use a Güralp three- or six-channel digitiser, the signals from the instrument will appear on the Z channel.

Pressing ENABLE and CENTRE on a CMG-3ESP hand-held control unit activates pin U and switches the 40V/H-1 into 1 second mode. You must do this before you can monitor mass position outputs, e.g. for offset zeroing.

Note: 40V/H-1 units with the optional additional high-gain outputs cannot be used with a CMG-3ESP breakout box. The pin-outs for these sensors are given in the next section.
