Chapter 2. Introduction

The CMG-3EX instrument is based on the CMG-3ESP Compact sensor and the CD24 digitiser. The CMG-3EX has buttons integrated into the sensor housing to allow its operation without the need of computer control. For detailed instructions on how to install and use these instruments, please refer to the relevant manual. Here, only specific operation details relating to the CMG-3EX will be addressed.

2.1 SoH

The instrument includes a small processor dedicated to monitoring the instrument's state of health (SoH). This processor is responsible for locking, unlocking and centring functions. It is referred to throughout this document as the SoH.
