Chapter 2. Introduction

2.1 Overview

Many Güralp instruments incorporate bubble-levels in their lids. These can be damaged by accidental impact or long-term ultraviolet exposure. This procedure describes how to replace a damaged bubble-level.

2.2 Equipment required

The following equipment is required:

• Impact-resistant safety glasses

• Light hammer

• Sharp modelling knife or scalpel

• Compressor (or air-line) with blow gun

• Large and medium flat-bladed screw-drivers

2.3 Consumables required

The following consumables are required:

• Cyanoacrylate adhesive (e.g. Superglue™ or Krazy glue™)

• Isopropyl alcohol / isopropanol

• Fine abrasive paper

• Paper towel or tissue

• Replacement bubble-level

• Additional bubble-level for checking

• Sewing pin or needle
