Firmware upgrades for DM24s using Platinum - Manual method

This page provides a summary of the prompts and keystrokes used when performing firmware upgrades of a DM24 Mk3 digitiser using the manual method from a Platinum systemA "platinum system" is any system running the Platinum operating system. This includes stand-alone acquisition systems such as EAMs and NAMs, DAS units such as the Affinity and DM24SxEAM and digital instruments with built-in acquisition systems such as the 3TDE, 40TDE or 5TDE.. It is important to understand the underlying processes so please be sure to read fully and understand thoroughly the main upgrading DM24s using platinum - Manual method page before attempting an upgrade. Failure to do so could render your digitiser un-bootable.

The Procedure

Throughout this document:

1. Changing the line-speed


Enter Command: F enter enter
0 38400 BAUD enter
ctrl + P
D enter
RE-BOOT enter Y

2. Upgrading the boot-loader

unless already at the boot-loader menu
Enter Command: B Y X
Start hosts' Xmodem-128 transmitter. ctrl + S
down down enter
G /usr/share/firmware/CMG-DM24mk3 enter
down × ? until dm24mk3-boot3002.img is highlighted
space enter and the new boot-loader code is up-loaded to the DM24
READY: press any key to continue... enter
Reboot to run NEW BootLoader Y/N? Y

3. Upgrading the System Code

Ensure that the boot-loader is at the latest revision before attempting to upgrade the system code.

From the main boot-loader menu...
Enter Command: S X
Start hosts' Xmodem-128 transmitter. ctrl + S
down down enter
down × ? until dm24mk3-107b27.img is highlighted
space enter and the new system code is up-loaded to the DM24
READY: press any key to continue... enter

4. Upgrading the DSP Code

Note: If slot zero is not the default slot, key T at the boot-loader menu before continuing - see main text for details.

From the main boot-loader menu...
Enter Command: D
0 enter
DSP1091 enter
X
Start hosts' Xmodem-128 transmitter. ctrl + S
down down enter
down × ? until dm24mk3-107b27.img is highlighted
space enter and the new system code is up-loaded to the DM24
READY: press any key to continue... enter

5. If you changed the line speed...

From the main boot-loader menu...
Enter Command: F enter enter
0 115200 BAUD (replacing 115200 with the desired Baud rate) enter
ctrl + P
Select the required Baud rate using the menu enter
RE-BOOT enter Y

6. Tidying up

Allow the system to boot normally, then
ctrl + Q then Y
