MAN-ELP-0110 - Pre-amplifier for GS13- Operator's Manual

Chapter 2. Description

The Güralp ELP-0110 is a low noise pre-amplifier which allows the use of a Teledyne Geotech Model GS-13 short-period seismometer or Model GS-21 borehole seismometer with any digitiser from the Güralp Systems DM24 range. The Güralp ELP-0110 provides a suitable input impedance (damping resistor) to the instrument's output, an appropriate level of gain and a balanced differential output stage with an output impedance designed to suit the Güralp DM24.

The ELP-0110 also provides a return channel for calibration signals from the Güralp DM24 digitiser, amplifying them and routing them to the calibration coil within the GS-13 or GS-21. The connection to the instrument's calibration coil is isolated by a relay when not in use.

The ELP-0110 requires no separate power supply, drawing power from the digitiser to which it is connected.

Each Güralp ELP-0110 unit is calibrated at the factory and supplied with an innav id="foot">section 5.

A standard GSL sensor cable, part number CAS-030-0013, is used to connect the ELP-0110 pre-amplifier to the digitiser. These are normally five metres in length but can be ordered in other lengths by requesting part number CAS-030-0013-n where n is the length, in metres.

The ELP-0110 requires no configuration and has no controls. It will start operating as soon as it is connected to a suitable digitiser.
