OUR SENIOR MANAGEMENT TEAM
Having held group accountant and corporate finance roles in Amersham plc, a FTSE 100 plc. Chris went on to become the CFO in several venture and private equity backed businesses in life sciences.
Following the trade sale of the last company in 2009, where Chris was the CEO, he started his own corporate finance consultancy specialising in technology businesses. Here he advised on numerous deals from trade sales, mergers, acquisitions and distribution agreements including negotiating a trade sale that won the British Venture Capital Association deal of the year award.
As well as working in finance within the high tech sector for all of his career, Chris also holds a Master’s in Mechanical Engineering from Imperial College.
John initially joined the engineering team at Güralp in 2014 bringing extensive operational management experience including proven capabilities in team building, project delivery, process analysis, change implementation and stakeholder relations.
Previous roles include twelve years as Operations Director and several other senior leadership roles in technology firms spanning satellite communications, broadcast technology and support engineering services.
Phil has has held the position of Technical and Engineering Director in several companies in varying markets making products for use in Professional Audio production, Electronic Video and Film production, Covert Surveillance and Flight Simulator systems.
An engineer by background, Phil has always maintained a 'hands on' approach. His commercial engineering experience is split between Electronic design and Software development. He also has a number of years’ experience in the use of CAM techniques and passionately believes in exploiting the synergy between computer aided design and computer aided manufacturing techniques.
Neil became Head of Aftermarket Services in 2015 and was instrumental in transforming Güralp's service, repairs and technical support services, introducing a more coherent customer service focus within the business. Since early 2016 Neil has been the Commercial Director for the business, responsible for global sales activities.
Neil has extensive field experience from his time with Güralp, undertaking a number of field installations. He firmly believes in the importance of building strong relationships and is very active in meeting with our clients and distributors from across the world. Neil can frequently be found representing Güralp at international geophysics conferences and has a particular interest in projects in technically challenging environments.
Neil is a father of two and keen sportsman.
John joined Guralp in 2015, following 35 years as an engineer in industries ranging from seismic data acquisition to point of sale terminals. He holds a degree in Electronics from Salford University.
Chris joined Güralp over thirty years ago and played an instrumental role in developing the technology that established the reputation of the company. He has extensive understanding of the full Güralp product range dating back to our original 3T seismometer, still in production today.
During his time with Güralp, Chris has played a lead role on many significant projects, personally performing a number of deployments on behalf of Güralp and our customers in projects around the world. His contribution to the design, manufacture, training and support of these projects gives him a first-hand insight into the imperative of producing high quality instrumentation that performs as expected.
OUR CLIENT RELATIONSHIP TEAM
During his time in Southampton, James practiced geophysical data processing and field techniques including the use of SeismComP to process offshore OBS data from the PI-LAB project.
James now manages our projects and sales activities across the Americas, coordinating with a trusted group of local distributors to deliver quality sales support to Güralp customers in the region.
In his spare time, James enjoys playing football (soccer) and hiking along the UK’s south coast.
Sally Mohr initially joined Güralp in 2015. Prior to this she had spent 25 years working in the USA in a number of general management roles on the East and West Coasts, her responsibilities covered all aspects of business management with a common emphasis on driving sales revenue. Sally also has a degree in computer programming.
Following her departure in 2022, when she elected to pursue an opportunity within a management company, Sally has now rejoined Güralp as Regional Sales Manager for Europe, Middle East and Africa.
Ella had her first introduction to Güralp when she joined us for work experience during her last year at school, so we are delighted that she elected to return to us after completing her academic studies.
Prior to joining us, Ivan worked for several years in a logistical role in the construction industry.

Nicola has responsibility for the administrative side of our dedicated service and repair department.
Nicola first joined Güralp in 1999 following 3 years in Seismic Data Processing. She holds a degree in Geology from the University of Leicester.
Outside of work, Nicola enjoys spending time with her family and pet Rabbits, and visiting the Scottish Islands whenever possible.
Fish joined the company in 2009 and has been documenting and supporting Güralp products for nearly fifteen years.
Previously, Fish studied Mathematics and Computer Science at Cambridge before various careers as a theatre musician, laser engineer, sound engineer, IT support engineer and, finally, IT manager before coming here.
Outside of work, Fish enjoys arranging and performing music, sound-engineering, electronics, number-puzzles, narrowboating and vehicle maintenance.
Federica recently joined Güralp in 2023 as part of the Support Team, following completion of her PhD in Global Seismology at Royal Holloway University of London (2023). Her research was on developing tomography models of seismic anisotropy in the deep mantle using normal modes.
Prior to her PhD, Federica had gained a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Milan, working on numerical models of subduction zones.
In her free time Federica enjoy reading, gardening, playing the guitar and going to (prog rock!) concerts.
Simon joined Güralp in 2012, not long after graduating from the University of Reading with an MEng in Computer Science and Cybernetics. This provided a broad knowledge base in electrical engineering, and feedback systems such as those present in many Güralp instruments.
Simon started out in the Digital Manufacturing team, building and repairing EAM, DM24 and CD24 digitisers, before moving into Repairs. He currently splits his time between Repairs, Support and assisting with monitoring/management of the Eskdaelmuir seismic array.
