CUSTOMER SUPPORT ENGINEER

With the continued expansion of our business we are recruiting a highly capable Customer Support Engineer with the responsibility of providing technical assistance to our global customer network.

The sensors we make are used for earthquake early warning systems, monitoring of natural and induced seismic activity, volcanic unrest and energy production. Our sensors are deployed on land and at sea and include ocean bottom seismometers which can be deployed to 6 km depth.

We engage in a wide variety of engineering disciplines ranging from intricate mechanical design challenges requiring micron level accuracy to large scale mechanical systems, electronics and software.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our growing team as we proceed on a sustained growth path.


THE ROLE:
A customer facing role, you will be providing technical support to our international client base, distributors, users and operators. This will include sales and product training.

You will need to develop a broad-based technical understanding of our products and the underlying technology on which they are designed, as well as, an understanding of the applications for which they are used.

As your experience and knowledge grows, there may be opportunities for international travel, assisting with field deployments or global marketing activities.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
  • Supporting our customers through remote diagnosis, deciding strategies on how to proceed with appropriate repairs or support
  • Learning about Güralp products and applications in order to communicate complex systems and theories to clients and users
  • Providing customer training both in-house, online and at customer sites
  • Liaising with the Engineering department to provide continuous feedback in order to improve product design and reliability
  • Working through a list of prioritised support tickets to provide an efficient and professional service to end users
  • Supporting field services, in a ‘hands-on’ role that may require international travel
  • Providing the sales team with technical support on Güralp products and aplications

ABOUT YOU
Due to the niche, highly technical nature of our business we are looking for candidates with an Engineering or Science degree (or equivalent).

You will have a strong background in maths and physics as well as a 'problem-solving' mindset.

It is also important that you have a good understanding of scientific and technical English and excellent computer literacy.


You must also be either a UK national or have settled or pre-settled status in the UK.
Other desirable skills and experience include:
  • Experience in a research environment
  • Familiarity with sampling theory and cybernetics (control theory)
  • An interest in Earth Science
  • Knowledge of Windows, Linux and networking (IP / Wi-Fi / GSM / serial)
  • Knowledge of programming in a well-known language
  • Experience of providing support externally to an international client base
