APPLICATIONS

  • Local and regional monitoring
  • Volcano monitoring
  • Microseismic monitoring
  • Passive seismic imaging
  • Rapid temporary deployments, e.g. aftershock and volcanic unrest monitoring
The pioneer of miniature force-feedback seismometers

The Güralp 40 series of triaxial, broadband seismometers are ideal for rapid deployment in challenging environments such as for volcanic unrest or aftershock monitoring. They are also well suited for installation in vaults with moderate environmental noise levels. With top access to connectors they are also suitable for posthole or direct burial installations.

40T - analogue instrument
40TDE - integrated with a Linux based digitiser and acquisition module, with web-based user interface and communication over serial and Ethernet
Small, rugged seismometer suitable for seismic monitoring at local and regional scales

  • 60 s to 100 Hz (options of 1 or 30 s to 100 Hz)
  • 2000 V/ms-1 (2 x 1000 V/ms-1) sensitivity
  • Direct velocity outputs
  • Robust, corrosion-resistant stainless steel enclosure
  • Fully adjustable levelling feet
  • Low power consumption of just 780 mW
  • No mass locking required - plug in and go
  • High dynamic range (151 dB at 5 Hz)
  • Lowest spurious vibration is a barely measureable resonance at 450 Hz
  • IP68 - protection against effects of prolonged immersion at 3 m depth for 72 hours
With integrated Linux-based digitiser and acquisition module offering web-based user interface and communication over serial and Ethernet

  • 60 s to 100 Hz (options of 1 or 30 s to 100 Hz)
  • 3200 V/ms-1 (2 × 1600 V/ms-1) sensitivity
  • Robust, corrosion-resistant stainless steel enclosure
  • Fully adjustable levelling feet
  • No mass locking required - plug in and go
  • 3 channel 24-bit ADC (primary)
  • 1 auxiliary 24-bit ADC (used for auxiliary input and calibration signal)
  • The high-gain feedback loop eliminates mechanical nonlinearity (the overall measured linearity exceeds 90 dB) and minimises resonance in the spring system
  • The lowest spurious vibration mode of the 40T sensor is a barely measureable resonance at 450 Hz
  • Low self noise results in over 145 dB dynamic range across a wide frequency band
  • Cross axis rejection over 62 dB; sensor axes orthogonal to within +/- 0.05°
  • STA/LTA triggering
  • Linux OS with web server
  • Ethernet output
  • Digitiser and sensor control via Platinum software (via web browser), Güralp Scream! software (free download), terminal window over SSH or serial link
  • Data recording in GCF and MiniSEED
  • Data streaming protocols: GCF (Scream!), SEEDlink, CD1.1 and GDI-link
  • Internal 16 GB Flash memory with USB 2.0 port
  • IP68 - protection against effects of prolonged immersion at 3 m depth for 72 hours
