Calibrating with broadband noise provides a convenient way to determine the complete amplitude, frequency and phase response of an instrument in a single experiment. The Güralp DM24 digitiser includes a pseudo-random number generator and 20-bit DAC which can be used to generate broadband noise with a flat frequency profile throughout the passband of the instrument.
